Ages 6 to 11
Fridays – 10am to 12pm
This group is designed especially for home-educated children who want to explore art in a supportive, inspiring environment while building strong creative foundations.
Each term, children will take part in an exciting artist-led project, discovering the work of different artists, styles, and movements from around the world. Students will explore a wide range of materials and techniques including drawing, painting, sculpture, printmaking, and mixed media.
Alongside creative exploration, children will gradually build essential art skills such as observation, colour theory, composition, mark making, and problem solving—developing confidence in both their practical abilities and creative thinking.
Every child is encouraged to develop their own ideas and artistic voice, learning that there is no single “right way” to create. Through hands-on projects and guided experimentation, students will learn how to turn inspiration into original artwork while growing in confidence, independence, and self-expression.
Term 5 & 6 Project:
Over two terms, students will explore a wide range of art materials, techniques, and creative processes, gradually discovering their own personal style and artistic voice. The focus is not only on making art but on building confidence, curiosity, and independence as young creators.
Children will experiment with drawing, painting, sculpture, and mixed media while learning how artists observe the world, develop ideas, and communicate visually.
The project will culminate in an exciting public celebration of their work, with a display in Tunbridge Wells town centre, followed by a final exhibition at Arty Farty Retreat, giving students the rewarding experience of sharing their creativity with the wider community.
This 2 term project also offers the chance to obtain an Arts Award for our young artists who have not yet completed the Discover or Explore. The Arts Awards are certificated by Trinity Arts College and delivered here at the studio. Read more here. The Arts Awards certificate incurs a fee by the awarding body.
