- artists’ paint made with a water-soluble binder such as gum arabic, and thinned with water rather than oil, giving a transparent colour.
Starting on 15th May
Week 1: Introduction to watercolour painting terms and equipment, experiment with 8 different techniques and start a still life study
Week 2: Use sunflowers as insipiration to use those new techniques
Break for 29th May, returning on 5th June.
Week 3: Using watercolour pencils to create a detailed bottany illustration
Week 4: Impressionist styles and stretching paper
Week 5: Trees! How to make them all look different
Week 6: Landscapes and skies
Week 7: Looser styles, splats and sploshes
Week 8: Colourful trees, with colours you wouldn’t expect!
Week 9: Floral frames using watercolour techniques
