  1. artists’ paint made with a water-soluble binder such as gum arabic, and thinned with water rather than oil, giving a transparent colour.

Starting on 5th February

Week 1 (5th Feb): Introduction to watercolour painting terms and equipment, experiment with a variety of different techniques and start a still life study.
Week 2 (12th Feb): Use sunflowers as inspiration to use those new techniques.
Break for half term, starting again on 26th February.

Week 3 (26th Feb): A world in a jar!  Painting from our imaginations.
Break for 1 week, returning on 11th March.

Week 4 (11th Mar): Impressionist styles and stretching paper.
Week 5 (18th Mar): Painting in black and white, using shade and tone.
Week 6 (25th Mar): Using watercolours with mono-printing techniques.
Week 7 (1st Apr): Skylines and silhouettes.  How to get the perfect sky.
Break for 2 weeks, returning on 22nd April.

Week 8 (22nd Apr): Using watercolour pencils to create a detailed botany illustration.
Week 9 (29th Apr): Bring your own piece to work on with the help of our Arty Farty SmARTys.

If you’ve already attended our watercolour workshops or you feel you are at a more advanced level, do attend our workshops to work on bigger projects with the help of our professional artist, Nell Price.
